Optogenetics is the modulation of neuronal activity using light. Among numerous other awards, the discovered has been awarded the Albert Lasker Award for Basic Medical Research in 2021. About 50% of Lasker winners have gone on to win a Nobel Prize in Physiology/Medicine. The 2022 Nobel Prize in Physiology/Medicine will be announced as early as October 3 2022.
