Resolution Criteria

This market resolves YES if Trump makes a public statement (via social media, news interview, press conference, or other public forum) that explicitly condemns or complains about Green Day's Super Bowl LX opening ceremony performance on February 8, 2026. The statement must reference the performance, the band, or specific aspects of their show (lyrics, messaging, etc.). Resolution is based on publicly documented statements made by Trump himself, not commentary from his supporters or staff.

This market resolves NO if Trump does not make such a statement by February 28, 2026.

Background

Green Day will perform the opening ceremony at Super Bowl LX on February 8, 2026, at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California. Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong is known for his vocal criticism of Donald Trump, often speaking out during the band's live performances. During performances of "Holiday," Armstrong has encouraged audiences to chant "F— Donald Trump," and at other shows called Trump's administration a "fascist government." Green Day's criticism of Trump goes back over a decade, including leading a chant of "No Trump, no KKK, no fascist USA" at the 2016 American Music Awards.

Considerations

Trump has previously responded publicly to musicians' criticism. When Bruce Springsteen condemned the current U.S. government, Trump called Springsteen "dumb as a rock" on Truth Social and posted an edited video of him hitting a golf ball that appeared to strike Springsteen on stage. However, Trump has yet to respond to Green Day's criticism despite their recent vocal attacks during 2025 performances.
