Am resolving this “Yes” as McCarthy states the inquiry is now open. “McCarthy’s office told ABC News' Scott that he does not intend to hold a floor vote, maintaining that the inquiry is "now open."

McCarthy didn't just call for the opening of the inquiry, he ordered it to open. That's how pretty much every news outlet reports it.

Will resolve when House committees actually open an impeachment inquiry. So far, McCarthy has just called for the opening of an inquiry but the inquiry has not been established.

Okay yeah, this seems like it resolves yes if the committee moves forward as McCarthy announced.

@Joshua Yeah, unfortunately McCarthy's false promise is not a resolution criteria.

@AdamTreat OTOH, if someone opened a market that asked "if the House's upcoming impeachment inquiry was evidence that the House took the issue lightly or that it was political", here you have McCarthy saying it is so. I guess that would be grounds for resolution criteria to resolve that question as YES.
