Background:
The US Department of Justice and 16 state and district attorneys general accused Apple of operating an illegal monopoly in the smartphone market in a new antitrust lawsuit.
Read the case:
Resolves:
DOJ (United States / US Department of Justice and any of 16 state and district attorney generals):
Apple is found guilty
Apple is forced to settle damages (original ruling only (not waiting for damages or appeals))
Apple:
Does not go to trial and/or does not settle
Apple is found not guilty
Resolves on original ruling only, appeals will not be considered. Will not wait for awarding damages unless it is pertinent to one of the resolution criteria.
I respect the speed with which you got this market up but I'm not sure these are the right terms to use here?
The lawsuit asks the court to stop Apple from engaging in current practices, including blocking cloud-streaming apps, undermining messaging across smartphone operating systems and preventing the creation of digital wallet alternatives. It also asks for Apple to pay an unspecified financial penalty.
It’s unclear what implications the suit — which is likely to drag out years before any type of resolution — would have for consumers.
@Joshua I believe there might be a possibility for a ruling (similar to the ebook case) as it pertains to the antitrust allegations spelt out in the request for relief. But I'll adjust if necessary.
@NFL Gotcha. Yeah I think more specific criteria would be helpful but I admit I don't have any specific suggestions of how to improve it. Markets about legal stuff are really tough.
