
Resolves YES if there is strong evidence that Canada has at least 1 gigawatt (GW) of operational space-to-ground power-transmission capacity before January 1st 2045.
“Space-to-ground power transmission” means systems that generate or collect energy in space and wirelessly transmit it to receiving infrastructure located in Canada, where it is converted into usable electrical power. Eligible technologies may include microwave, laser, or other wireless power-transmission methods.
The 1 GW threshold refers to aggregate nameplate electrical-output capacity deliverable at the Canadian receiving stations after conversion from the transmitted signal. Multiple systems may be added together, provided they are operational and capable of supplying power concurrently. Experimental demonstrations, announced projects, facilities under construction, and systems that have not entered operation do not count.
Strong evidence should preferably include official government or grid-operator data, regulatory filings, audited technical documentation, or reporting from multiple reputable independent sources. Brief tests or temporary demonstrations do not qualify unless the system has entered sustained commercial, governmental, or utility-scale operation.
Resolves NO if the available evidence indicates that qualifying operational capacity remained below 1 GW through December 31st 2044.
If evidence is incomplete or disputed, the market should be resolved according to the most credible publicly available estimates of operational capacity. Capacity located outside Canada does not count, even if some of the resulting electricity is later imported into Canada.
