The Tale of Igor's Campaign (Слово о пълкѹ Игоревѣ) is a literary work of the late XII century. The only known manuscript, dated XV century, was found in the 1780s—1790s, published in 1800, and perished in the great Moscow fire in 1812.
It's my lowkey dream that we some day recover at least one more manuscript containing a copy of the text (like Zadonshchina which has multiple copies surviving).
So we only have access to the text of the Tale, not the handwriting or the material, and there is always the suspicion that the publishers messed up some parts of it. In fact, the 1800 publishers are known to mess up some things. The copy made for Catherine the Great is more precise, but if they made similar mistakes in some place, what can you do?
Besides, it would provide useful information about the text itself, possibly helping to clarify some of the unclear parts of it, etc.
