NO

J10N made the following offer to me "18 days ago

@ussgordoncaptain Well I still have an ungodly amount of NO shares, almost 15,000 currently. That’s way above any kind of Kelly bet at the current price, so I’d be happy to cash you out at a reasonable haircut, with limit orders to avoid trading fees. I put a big limit order at 85%. We can haggle about the price and amount if you want. Don’t let that sunk-cost fallacy stand in your way :P"

Will @1941159478 get DQed under rule 9?

So I'm probably going to resolve NO but I'll wait for 2 days to confirm

Behavior like that makes the market more efficient. Why should it result in a DQ?

@IsaacKing Yeah that was my thinking as well. But the Salem Center disagreed and it’s their tournament. In my defense here, I definitely didn’t intend to cheat or anything which is also why I offered this out in the open. The limit order in question also never got filled and this was two weeks ago so I figure if I was going to be disqualified for that it would have happened already.

But maybe another plausible reason for me to be disqualified could be that I do a lot of, erm, market making there and use the API pretty heavily to find good trades. Neither is against the rules per se, but they combine to a pretty hefty competitive advantage that TBH seems a bit dicey.

On the bright side, you’re also supposed win with ‘a wide range of prudent bets over time’ instead of as ‘the result of a few large gambles’, and if I see things correctly user @Mark and I are the only ones near the top of the leaderboard who haven’t just gone all in on some market along the way. Here’s a graph of the largest percentage of their portfolio users had in an individual market over time:
