MISTAKES TO FIX
"Second Half" - might include overtime, will NA that one if able
"Hit Crossbars" - might need to reresolve YES
Fumble one?
I didn’t see it with my own eyes but … “Dre Greenlaw went down in the second quarter while running onto the field from the sideline. He was carted to the locker room after some work with the training/medical staff.” (Achilles, out of game)
https://www.49erswebzone.com/articles/178427-injury-updates-greenlaw-carted-locker/
@SusanneinFrance we looked at the video and it was hard to determine - the cart never goes on the playing field, just the sidelines. and people interpreted 'field' to mean two different things. so we NAed it to be safe.
no 90 minutes adds this year, 2020 records still stand https://www.marca.com/en/nfl/super-bowl/2024/02/12/65c4053ee2704e805f8b4577.html
A detailed explanation of why this was a fumble is at https://www.sfchronicle.com/sports/49ers/article/49ers-second-half-special-teams-miscues-costly-18661920.php.
@strutheo "3 or more fumbles that result in turnovers" has been resolved incorrectly.
I commented last night about the punt that hit the ankle. It was, indeed, recorded as a "lost fumble" charged against Luter on the official game stat sheet.
Combined with the two earlier more traditional fumbles, the correct resolution is YES.
@SteveSokolowski will have to check with @BrunoParga who said the game API does not report it as a fumble, can add this to a list to reopen
@strutheo I think we might be talking about slightly different things.
I am assuming, without confirmation, that the app I use consumes the official API.
In that app, each team is listed as having two turnovers; there was a question on whether the winning team would have more than the losing team, and at least based on the app that should resolve NO.
This doesn't mention what the turnovers were. I am saturated with this game, so I don't want to go over the play-by-play to check which two turnovers each team had. So I don't take any stance based on the app on whether the Niners punt that hit the ankle of their player counts as a fumble.
I am not 100% confident, but @SteveSokolowski 's argument makes sense to me.
The official game stats are available here: https://static.www.nfl.com/gamecenter/674ddfc1-b342-11ee-aec3-7d8f81bc70be.pdf
Fumbles Lost is recorded by individual on page 3 and by team on page 5. A lost fumble means a fumble that was recovered by the other team. Darrell Luter was credited with a punt return and a lost fumble because the ball bounced off his foot. So, there were 3 lost fumbles in the game:
q1 12:24 by SF-Christian McCaffrey
q2 12:09 by KC-Isiah Pacheco
q3 2:42 by SF-Darrell Luter
@ashly_webb will look more into this tmrw, there might be a 5th still i didnt see, i missed a lot.
and i wasnt considering reruns at first when i wrote it but idk what people thought .
@ashly_webb neat, how definitive is this? either way might take a few days , ill check other sources
@BrunoParga I don't care either way. I noticed "fumble in 2nd half results in turnover" resolved NO (the muff was in the 3rd quarter). The terms aren't well defined. The muff is recorded as a lost fumble even though it just bounced off the guy's foot. For turnovers, I think they just add lost fumbles and interceptions (turnovers on downs aren't "turnovers").
