In 2021, Spotify announced that they would be releasing Spotify HiFi later that year which would contain music in a "CD-quality, lossless audio format". However it in 2024 and it still has not been released to any market.
In a 2023 T3 interview, vice president of business affairs David Kaefer less committal stating "Sometimes, I think people have been sold on audio formats that are not perceptibly better. We're reluctant to play into that.".
Success of YES: Spotify successfully releases a lossless audio subscription/tier/offering in at least one market by the 1st of January 2025.
