Due to exceptionally low Danube water levels, one of Cernavodă’s two reactors has already been shut down. The remaining reactor is also at risk of being shut down as water levels continue to fall, potentially affecting the plant’s cooling system.

The market resolves YES if both reactors remain shut down for at least seven consecutive days. The seven-day period begins on the calendar day on which the second reactor is shut down. All seven days must fall within August 2026.

For example, if the second reactor is shut down on August 13, the market resolves YES if both reactors remain shut down through August 19 at 11:59 PM. If the second reactor is operational again at any point before August 20, the market resolves NO.
