This market asks whether any podcast hosted by a current or former elected official will rank in Spotify's Top 100 Politics podcasts by August 1, 2025.
The politician must be the primary host or co-host of the podcast, not just a recurring guest. The podcast must appear in Spotify's official Politics category rankings.
Resolution source: Spotify Charts or Chartable rankings for Politics podcasts on August 1, 2025.
Background
Currently, there are no prominent podcasts hosted by current or former elected officials that consistently rank in the top 100 politics podcasts on major platforms like Spotify. While political podcasts such as "The Daily" and "Pod Save America" frequently feature politicians as guests, they are not hosted by elected officials themselves.
For a politician-hosted podcast to break into Spotify's Top 100 Politics category, it would need to build a substantial audience through engaging content, consistent publishing, and effective promotion. The podcasting landscape is competitive, with established media organizations and professional commentators dominating the politics category.
Resolution Criteria
This market will resolve as YES if:
A podcast primarily hosted or co-hosted by a current or former elected official appears in Spotify's Top 100 Politics podcasts category on August 1, 2025.
The politician must be a primary host or co-host of the podcast, not merely a recurring guest.
The podcast must be categorized under Spotify's Politics category.
This market will resolve as NO if:
No podcast hosted by a current or former elected official appears in Spotify's Top 100 Politics podcasts by the resolution date.
Verification will be done using either Spotify Charts (charts.spotify.com) or Chartable (chartable.com) rankings for Politics podcasts on August 1, 2025.
Considerations
"Elected official" refers to anyone who has held an elected government position at any level (local, state, federal, or international equivalent).
If a podcast is co-hosted by multiple people, at least one must be a current or former elected official for the market to resolve as YES.
If Spotify changes its ranking methodology or category structure before the resolution date, the most equivalent ranking system available will be used.
If a politician launches a podcast shortly before the resolution date specifically to influence this market, it will still count as long as it genuinely ranks in the Top 100.
