To the best of my research, the last major advance to IMAX was digital projection in 2008 (or 3D which came with the move to digital). When will the next advancement come to IMAX which will be both noticeable and accessible to the average movie-goer?

This should be in at least half a dozen IMAX theatres around the country for it to count as “accessible”.

Things that won’t count:

• One-off IMAX exhibits (think: some Vegas experience).

• IMAX upgrades which aren’t visible to moviegoers (e.g. a new smaller and cheaper projector/camera).
