The G7 countries are US, Japan, Canada, Germany, France, Italy, and the UK. The environment and climate ministers of these countries recently met in Japan and pledged to eliminate plastic pollution in their countries by 2040.
Resolves YES, if major media reports that the pledge was achieved. For a little slack, we allow until the very end of 2024 to achieve it and we might wait a little longer for assessment.
Resolves NO, if nobody declares the goal as achieved. NO immediately, if a G7 summit officially shifts the goal to 2045 or later.
(Any ideas for a tie breaker in case a disagreement arises?)
