Resolution criteria
This market resolves to the calendar month in which Apple officially announces a Mac mini equipped with an M5-series chipset (such as the base M5, M5 Pro, or other M5-generation variants).
Official Announcement: The announcement must be officially made by Apple, either via a published press release on the Apple Newsroom or during an official live-streamed Apple Keynote/Event.
Time Zone: The date of the announcement will be determined using Pacific Time (PT), matching Apple’s headquarters in Cupertino, California.
M5 Chip Skip: If Apple skips the M5 generation entirely for the Mac mini (e.g., releasing an M6 Mac mini next without ever announcing an M5 version) or if a new Mac mini is not released by the end of 2027, this market will resolve to "Other” upon announcement of a Mac mini with a higher-numbered chipset or December 31, 2027, whichever is first.
Resolution Outcomes:
If the announcement occurs in any month from July 2026 through December 2026, the market will resolve to that respective month.
If no announcement occurs before November 1, 2026, additional options will be added 3 months in advance until December 2027.
Background
Following the conclusion of WWDC in June 2026, which featured no new Mac hardware announcements, attention has shifted to when Apple will debut its M5 Apple Silicon generation. The Mac mini was last refreshed with the M4 and M4 Pro chips in late 2024. Current industry reports and supply chain tracking suggest Apple is preparing a suite of M5-based desktop Macs, with analysts estimating a potential release window in the fall of 2026 (likely between August and October).
