This market resolves as YES if the next console announced by Nintendo includes the word "Switch" in its name. Otherwise, it resolves as NO.
Some names that could cause a YES resolution include Switch 2, Switch U, New Switch, etc.
This market is about the next console announced by Nintendo, and will not automatically resolve as YES if they announce a more powerful Switch. This next console must be capable of playing games that cannot be played on a Switch. If Nintendo never releases another console, I will resolve this market as N/A, and I will be sad. If Nintendo has not announced a new console by 12/31/24, this market will have its closing date pushed back.

You know, now that I think about it, “Nintendo Switch 2” would be a simple and effective way to convey a sequel console.

Surprised to see this so high. The Switch has been lightning in a bottle, for sure, but we can’t forget about the Wii U.
The Wii was also lightning in a bottle - remember how they were sold out for the first year? So to follow it up, Nintendo released the Wii U to capture some of that magic.
The Wii U failed spectacularly. Despite one of the greatest catalogs a Nintendo console has had, everyday people (Nintendo’s bread and butter) kept mixing it up with the Wii - thinking you could play Wii U games on the Wii, or maybe just buy a gamepad for the Wii to make it a Wii U.
The Switch, honestly, was a reaction to that entire failure. It has no Wii related branding at all.
I think it’s certainly possible that Nintendo tries to use the prior console’s branding, in a smarter and clearer way. But I think it’s far more likely that they try to cut from a new cloth once again.
@JackGaller I think if they do go for a name including Switch, it'll be much more clear that it's a sequel to the Switch. Instead of "Switch U," it'll likely be something like "Switch 2" or "New Nintendo Switch." The numerical branding in particular has worked fine for Sony.
I'm also surprised this market got as high as it did, though.
@evergreenemily Contrariwise:
NES
Super NES
Game Boy
Game Boy Advance
Wii
Wii U
I think the n64 and GameCube are the outliers here, not the trend?
