This market resolves to the age of the first cat that my partner and I adopt, at the time of the cat's adoption.

Additional context

We plan on adopting a cat at some point during our M.A. studies, between September 2023 and June 2025 (ideally by the end of the year.) We'll be adopting from a local shelter and aren't especially picky, but would prefer a somewhat younger cat if one is available, and would definitely prefer one that's not aggressive, messy, or destructive (pissing off a landlord is expensive.)

Fine print

If we adopt two cats at once, this market will resolve 50% to the age of one and 50% to the age of the other (though we probably won't be adopting two unless they're both young kittens.)

If we don't know the exact age of the cat, then this market resolves to the best guess of the shelter, or the best guess of the vet if the shelter can't or won't tell us.

All answers are rounded down - e.g. "2 to 4 years" means "exactly 2 years and 0 days old to 4 years and 364 days old," and "5 to 9 years" means "exactly 5 years and 0 days old to 9 years and 364 days old."

This market remains open until we either adopt a cat or the relationship ends (in which case, it resolves N/A.) I believe the latter is extremely unlikely to happen first - we're practically married and have been together for more than a decade.
