This market resolves as the category of the first job I am officially hired for after I obtain my PhD. If I haven't obtained a PhD by 2036, this market resolves as N/A.
I reserve the right to bet on this market until I send out my first job applications near the end of my PhD program. At that point, I have actual insider information and will no longer be comfortable trading on this market.
Additional context
I am currently pursuing an M.A. in Geography, and I plan on pursuing a PhD in the subject afterwards. If all goes according to plan, I should earn my PhD by 2029 or 2030.
I'd like to go into academia, but there's no guarantee that'll happen. If at all possible, I'm hoping to have my first job lined up before I graduate.
Fine print
This market resolves as category of the first job I am officially hired for, NOT the category of the first job offer I receive. I may end up receiving multiple offers at more-or-less the same time and not accepting the first one that I was offered.
I've listed the options that I consider likely as of market creation. I reserve the right to add more options over time, should others become likely.
I will consider myself "officially hired" upon accepting a job offer and filling out any required paperwork, even if I don't start actually working until after I have completed my PhD or until after some other amount of time has elapsed. I will count myself as "officially hired" even if I am immediately fired for some reason.
