What happened to Kass?

This market resolves based on the information Nintendo makes available about what happened to Kass to cause his absence from Tears of the Kingdom.

If Nintendo has made no information on this available by close, then this resolves to "Fate unknown."

Please don't submit duplicates of pre-existing answers. Answers that are more specific than previous answers are okay (e.g. "He got eaten by the Light Dragon" isn't a duplicate of "He died") and will be resolved as an even split with the less-specific version (e.g. if Eiji Aonuma says that Kass was eaten by the Light Dragon, then "He got eaten by the Light Dragon" and "He died" will both resolve to 50%, while "He got struck by an asteroid" would resolve to 0%.)

Additional context

Kass was one of the most popular characters in Breath of the Wild; a tall, handsome bird-bard with an accordion and endless wisdom to dispense. He was seen all across the map, and even had a significant role in the game's second DLC.

He's also the only major character from Breath of the Wild to be entirely absent from its sequel, and with no plans for DLC, his fate might remain a mystery. It's easy to assume he died, but he wasn't all that old (likely in his 40s/50s) and his family (who are still around) don't talk about him as if he's dead...

Fine print

Nintendo can release information on Kass' fate in several ways, so long as it is through an official channel of some sort:

  • A free update or (less likely) DLC is released for Tears of the Kingdom, in which Kass is mentioned or appears directly.

  • One of the developers mentions Kass' fate in an interview with a reputable source (i.e. I have to be sure the interview actually took place and wasn't a fake for clicks)

  • One of the developers mentions Kass' fate in another official context, e.g. on their social media account or during a Nintendo Direct

  • Nintendo's social media accounts (Twitter, Youtube, etc.) directly answer the question "What happened to Kass" in some way

The list is non-exhaustive and mostly serves to provide an idea of what my standard of "official" is.
