1) I got into Metaculus around the end of last year, since election season had just ended and I needed my prediction fix. At some point there, I saw a reference to Manifold, was intrigued, joined, and then discovered I could make markets about literally any topic and fell in love with the site.

2) Is it cheating if I say the entire Lord of the Rings trilogy, since it was originally supposed to be one book? It's an absolutely phenomenal read - I think it's held up really well even after the entire modern fantasy genre has iterated on its premises, and doesn't really suffer from the "Seinfeld is unfunny" effect. Tolkien's prose and worldbuilding are fantastic, the characters are (for the most part) really memorable and interesting...I first read the books nearly fifteen years ago and they still live rent-free in my head. Second place probably goes to either Restaurant at the End of the Universe or the original Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy; both are absolutely hilarious and did a lot to shape my sense of humor when I was a teenager.

3) Oh, that's a really tough one, actually. I'm gonna list a few that I'd really, 

 like to know the resolution of (even if they likely won't resolve for a while - also not counting all of the human extinction markets, since I'd obviously be very relieved to see those all resolve NO):

4) Climate change - my interest in it is a large part of the reason I'm pursuing an M.A. in geography. The reason it concerns me so greatly is that it has the potential to make a 

of global problems worse (tropical disease spread, malnutrition and famine, mass extinction of wildlife/ecological collapse, drought, hurricanes and other extreme weather, etc.) while introducing new problems (forced mass migrations as a result of flooding and sea level rise, massive bloody wars over freshwater, etc.) 

 simultaneously making our already deeply-unequal world significantly more unequal as low-income countries will be hit first and hit hardest by the effects of climate change, and even within wealthy countries, marginalized people will bear the brunt of the impact as well. Meanwhile, the billionaires, oil/gas execs, and politicians who let the situation escalate to crisis will get off basically scot-free (assuming that runaway feedback loops don't turn Earth into another Venus, which they probably won't) because their wealth will allow them to weather the crisis comfortably; and if we end up solving the problem with geoengineering (risky)  or carbon capture (probably our best tech bet outside of switching to nuclear fusion the second it's available), there's a good chance that the only lesson we'll have learned is "technology can solve any problem!" and the billionaires will continue to bathe in money while pretending their actions had no consequences. It's infuriating, and the future looks bleak if something major doesn't change very soon.

5) Another one that really made me think! There's a lot of good candidates for this one. If really broad things count, then I think I'd pick agriculture or writing; if it's more specific/technical stuff, then probably penicillin.

Bonus: That's a tough one, too...I think that the best news I've gotten in the past five years is my acceptance letter to the M.A. program I'm starting in the fall. It gave me way more of a sense of purpose and security in my future - especially because I was awarded a full-time TA position with a tuition waver and a stipend, which means I can afford to attend without having to take out any loans.

What's your HRT loadout (if you have one) I'm on 2 estradot 75s every 5 days

 Nice! I used to be on spiro too, but then I got a surgery. I used to be on estradot 100s but apparently my estradiol levels were weirdly high so we had to bring them down. Bodies are weird 

 200 mg spironolactone/day (100 in the morning, 100 in the evening) and 2 mg estradiol/day! I've been on HRT for seven years, and my dose hasn't changed in the past fiveish years.
