There was a 12-year hiatus between NetHack release 3.4.3 in 2003 and release 3.6.0 in 2015. Since then, there have been 7 releases in the 3.6.0 branch, the latest one being 3.6.7 in February 2023. Active development on the 3.7 branch is underway.
