Why This Will Happen: No, I don't actually think a 1,900-yard season is in Smith-Schuster's range of outcomes, but the headline was catchy, wasn't it?

There are some interesting similarities between the two, though.

Last year, Kupp got a big quarterback upgrade and was being drafted in the running back dead zone. He'd already played four years in the NFL, averaging a slot snap rate per season of 64.9%. And he was productive, giving us multiple WR2-plus seasons.

JuJu fell victim to the aforementioned Steelers offense that didn't allow plays to develop down the field. His average depth of target was just six yards during his last healthy season with the team. Fortunately, his peripherals look mostly fine, as his catch rate on deep balls remained pretty consistent year over year. He just wasn't seeing those types of targets.

If there's someone who fits the Cooper Kupp profile this year, it's Smith-Schuster.

At the end of the day, bold predictions are just looking at either side of some range of outcomes. For a bold prediction to come true for a player, he’s likely either hitting his floor, or he’s hitting his ceiling. So you can still get mathematical and nerdy when putting together these wacky forecasts. You don’t need to throw random takes at the wall and hope some of them stick.
