The Bold Prediction from JJ Zachariason: Christian Kirk Will Outscore DK Metcalf

Why This Is Bold: According to FantasyPros aggregate ADP, Christian Kirk is being drafted at WR43 while DK Metcalf is WR19.
Why This Will Happen: The downside argument for DK Metcalf is pretty obvious: The Seahawks have the worst quarterback situation in the NFL. Metcalf was fine with Geno Smith last year, but he also scored 50% of Seattle's offensive touchdowns. And his target share per game was technically lower than the share he was seeing with Russell Wilson. Metcalf is an awesome player, but situationally, things look rough in 2022.

Kirk is a fifth-year player, and we've seen these fifth- and sixth-year guys do well out of the middle rounds of fantasy drafts historically. He also should be able to play a lot of slot snaps for this Jacksonville team, and that's huge for him. In 2021, Kirk played 78% of his snaps from the slot for Arizona, which was by far a career high. He then came through with another career high in yards per route run, finishing just behind Terry McLaurin in the statistic.

I'm higher than the market when it comes to Kirk, and I'm lower than the market with Metcalf. That's what this one really comes down to.

At the end of the day, bold predictions are just looking at either side of some range of outcomes. For a bold prediction to come true for a player, he’s likely either hitting his floor, or he’s hitting his ceiling. So you can still get mathematical and nerdy when putting together these wacky forecasts. You don’t need to throw random takes at the wall and hope some of them stick.
