As part of the upcoming Pivot, Mana (Manifold’s virtual currency) will be devalued 10x from M100 = $1 USD to M1,000 = $1 USD.

Prior to this devaluation (planned for May 15th, 2024), you can donate your Mana at the original rate.

I’ve heard many users plan on (or are already) donating their existing balances then buying back their Mana at the new rate.

Example: if you have M1,000, you can donate an equivalent of $10 USD before May 15th, then restock back to M1,000 at a purchase price of $1 USD after the devaluation. Boom - you just effectively paid $1 USD for a $10 USD donation and have the same amount of Mana as you did before.

Do you plan on doing this? If not, what do you plan on doing?

End date extended since date to donate got pushed back to May 15th.

You’ve convinced me to donate my current balance without selling bets (4,500 as I started 48 days ago and didn’t put any money in)

Mana poll 💰

I donated pretty much my entire balance, but I didn't sell out of positions, so I only donated a bit less than half my net worth. I probably won't buy it all back, but I might buy some if the site is any good. I also might do another donation at the last minute, as I'm getting ~1000 in loans every day until those get turned off.

(The point has been made a few times that it's not quite as much of a no-brainer as it seems due to Manifold's charity budget already being ring fenced. But clearly I still think it's worth doing.)
