This summer, the stars align for a rare movie event—two legends of Hollywood will release films within months of the directorial debut of their (respective) daughters.
TEAM SHYAMALAN
"Trap" - directed by M. Night Shyamalan ("The Sixth Sense", "Signs")
"The Watchers" - directed by Ishana Shyamalan (his daughter)
TEAM CRONENBERG
"The Shroud" - directed by David Cronenberg ("The Fly", "Videodrome")
"Humane" - directed by Caitlin Cronenberg (his daughter)
This market resolves to the pair of movies with the higher combined Tomatometer score on Rotten Tomatoes score, when I check two weeks after the last of these releases.
Details
The Tomatometer is critics, not audiences.
I will use whatever precision is listed by Rotten Tomatoes (typically an integer percentage, no decimal). If there's an exact tie, both options resolve to 50%.
Example: the Tomatometer for M. Night Shyamalan's breakthrough "The Sixth Sense" is currently 86%. This is the equivalent number I will use.
