Elias Iagnemma finished his project Exodia and proposed a grade of V18 (9A+), which would make it the first climb of the grade: Exodia — the world’s first proposed 9A+ | Elias Iagnemma

His V17 resume is Burden of Dreams, and an FA of The Big Slamm which also has not been repeated. https://climbing-history.org/climber/913/elias-iagnemma

Market resolves when a second person sends Exodia and publicly voices what they think the appropriate grade is - if they propose V18 (9A+), resolves yes, otherwise no.

Resolves N/A if:

  • The second ascentionist does not voice an opinion on the grade within 6 months of announcing their ascent

  • The rock on the climb breaks in a way that meaningfully changes the grade.

I have 2 armchair expert hot takes about this:

> "It’s an 8B+ that draws you in, followed by an 8C+ that shuts you down. In between, an upside-down rest that brings your arms back — while draining everything else"

This doesn't look wildly low percentage and if there's a no-hands rest in the middle it's hard to see how 8B+ then rest then 8C+ = 9A+?

Second hot take: https://www.pangram.com/history/61dedd78-ad81-4db2-a475-a0604263c181?ucc=CPOapcZeGk1 I am much less interested in what an AI model has to say about the climb and am sort of spiteful that this is becoming more common. The biggest achievement of your life and you don't have any of your own words to say about it? I dunno though, maybe it's just someone at La Sportiva being lazy.
