Current Annual Tuition Fees Per Year (As of 14/09/2023):

  • Home/Local Students: ~£9,250

  • Overseas/International Students: On average ~£22,200

Critieria For "Yes" At Resolve:

  • England abolishes tuition fees for local and or international students to £0/ per year from 14/09/2023 until 23:59:59 01/01/2026 Greenwich Mean Time.

Critieria For "No" At Resolve:

  • England does not abolish tuition fees for local and or international students to £0/ per year from 14/09/2023 until 23:59:59 01/01/2026 Greenwich Mean Time.

Additional Notes:

  • Please note this only applies to universities within England, United Kingdom, as other countries within the United Kingdom like Scotland already has close to or free tuition fees for home students.

  • The UK government or any politician simply saying that they will abolish student tuition fees do not count, the abolishion of tuition fees will need to be officially signed into law and or effective, I will resolve as "Yes" if the law was signed but the free tuition only starts in the next academic year (2027).

  • This question is only refering specifically to tuition fees, administration fees and other miscellaneous fees do not count.

History (Source: Wikipedia):

  • Tuition fees were first introduced across the entire United Kingdom in September 1998 under the Labour government of Tony Blair.

  • Students were required to pay up to £1,000 a year for tuition.
