Background
Newly-promoted Coventry City is returning to the Premier League for the first time in 25 years after winning the 2025/2026 EFL Championship under manager Frank Lampard. Their first match back in the top flight is a challenging away fixture at the Emirates Stadium against the defending Premier League champions, Arsenal, on Friday, August 21, 2026. Interestingly, the last time Coventry played away at Arsenal on an opening weekend (August 1993), they won 3-0.
