This is the photo we have from the security footage.
I will resolve once the identity of the perp has been confirmed (with a preponderance of evidence standard).
If this is you, please return it! DM me, and I'll close this market, and we can work out a settlement with the owner.
Justice has been served. The owner is reaching out to retrieve the painting.
I ask that you all be reasonable and not dogpile or otherwise try to contact the painting-taker. The situation is being dealt with; we don't need an internet mob getting involved. Thank you!
@snazzlePop she's already commented multiple times below - probably best to leave it to her and the owner to sort out at this point
Hey, just want to clear up a couple things. This was something I really didn’t think through, and had I thought it through at all I wouldn’t have done it. I had no idea about any of this until someone reached out to me via email 45 minutes ago. I’m not on Twitter, and no one shared the original video or tweet with me until then. As soon as I’m in contact with the owners I’ll arrange to return it and I hope that this case considered closed. It was a decision made with very little thought in the revelry of the night, and too little thought after the fact. I am sorry I did it and wanted to do the right thing by coming forward as soon as I heard about this.
@SimiBest hey there! I imagine you're getting some flame for this; I wanted to say that I appreciate your forthrightness and your intention to set things right. I think the courage to admit "sorry, I messed up here" is very important and I hope I am able to do so when I make mistakes too.
@Austin she wasn't forthright until she knew she would be caught. There is nothing noble or courageous about her response. Her motivations are clear: "I hope that this case considered closed".
I have contacted the UC Berkeley library to let them know that one of their archivists is a thief.

@SG Thank you! I acted alone and completely without thinking, amidst the revelry of the night. Obviously if I had thought it through I would not have been on my ability to outwit you all. I will get it back where it came from & I hope this is case closed
