Look in the recycle bin if you're on Windows. 

If the file is completely missing, your best bet is to use PhotoRec to search for it. If you're lucky, the files bits haven't been overwritten.

 If the file itself hasn't been deleted and its just missing, you can use something like 

```grep -r "Cocktoasten" /``` to search for any file with the string Cocktoasten in it.

If you know the exact name, try the "locate" command.

But as a text file is a rather small thing it's likely it was already overwritten entirely by some temp file.

 Nothing outside of my zsh history. I'll award you the bounty for actually coming up with good info but I think I must have somehow deleted it. Guess I got some work to do on rewriting this thing.

 assuming the file actually exists at all, another way to search for it is through searching for the file contents. 

 fails the file definitely does not exist, either it never existed or you deleted it. If the latter, there are some deleted file recovery programs you could try.

 my dumbass just realized I was running locate on the wrong file name. Rerunning locate with the correct file name and and grep like you suggested yields no results. I last remember it existing the night before I made this market.

 when is the last time you remember seeing the file exist?

 most of those files are most likely system files, you can filter further with grep: 

 I was running locate I_should_kms -i. Switched around the syntax at your recommendation and some files did appear. Will check them and report back

 what commands are you running exactly? Try 

 ("kill" is just part of the name in case you misremembered it)

 Just reran after doing the updatedb thing. There is no output, just starts a new line.

 It might be helpful to post the output of the locate command, "didn't work" could mean a lot of things. Did you run 

 If you didn’t already, run it with “-ipt” flags for more forgiving pattern matching. Ignores case, spaces etc

Willing to swipe for mana in the event someone can actually help me but wants more mana. Really fucking desperate here. 

File randomly disappeared from my /home/Lilith folder. The file is/was called "kill_me_now". I don't believe that I deleted it but I also don't know where it could have gone. Any method to find this thing on my drive appreciated. Please let me know, I do not need to rewrite Cocktoasten pegging Mira
