@ManifoldMarkets Great question! Impact Factor is an index that reflects the yearly average number of citations of articles published in the last two years of any given journal.
Though not perfect, the idea is that the "strongest" journals will have the highest impact factors as their articles attract the most citations/attention. However, there's quite a few reasonable criticisms of the utility of using impact factor!
