Closes 5 days after round one (which is this friday), but could take a while to resolve if she takes a while to announce followup. Resolves NA if Holly becomes confident she won't do a second one. Resolves YES if I'm too busy or out of town to go, but otherwise would.
The risk that Pause AI is a clumsy framing that makes the polarization process of AI regulation runaway like a paperclip factory is worrying to me, but right now I just wanna see what the vibe is and see if anybody walking by on the sidewalk changes my mind. I'm weak in my intention to attend round one, and 50/50 on if I'll attend round two.
I like Nora's post https://forum.effectivealtruism.org/posts/JYEAL8g7ArqGoTaX6/ai-pause-will-likely-backfire but I'm probably more optimistic than her of the way pause becomes a good idea in worlds where we all agree in each 6-24 month round what we'd like to test to decide on adjusting the next round of pausing. However it doesn't matter since I think defining these metrics is not something we're equipped for at all and won't be for at least 18 months.

@Quinn If something is unpleasant to you, you can try to conquer that feeling by doing it. If you want to overcome the flinch. Or not! Just a thought.
@asmith sure I mean usually--- the point here is that I left all that behind / too old for this shit / I'm not walking into a "come out of retirement for one last job" situation. It's fun if you've never really protested but for me I used to protest tons of shit so I don't like the nostalgia
