Will giant faces appear in any major American city and interact with the residents?

YES

The faces must be at least the size of a small building, like the ones depicted in this image.

They must appear at some time before the closure date of this market and be more than just still images of faces - they should be able to change their expression and interact in some way with human passers-by. The nature of this interaction can be broad: it can be anything from passive observation (like continually staring or watching someone), to friendly chatting, to something more mean-spirited like spitting on people.

Can confirm that this happened at Crown Fountain in Chicago.

Faces the size of a small building: ✅️

  • The faces at Crown Fountain are about 50 ft. tall, well above the height threshold I set in the comments.

Appear before the closure date of the market: ✅️

  • They appear every day at about 15 minute intervals

Major American city: ✅️

  • I don't think anyone disputes that Chicago is a major American city.

Able to change expressions: ✅️

  • Indeed, the faces are not just still images. They are short video clips, and they change their expression throughout the video.

Interact with residents: ✅️

  • Starting in May, when weather permits, the faces on the fountain will spit streams of water out, and it is usually used as a place for kids to play in the water. There was plenty of warm weather in Chicago in May, and a Google review from one day ago confirms that this definitely happened.

hasn't happened since...

@Dreamingpast It has almost certainly already happened in the time frame for this to resolve YES. Crown Fountain (an installation in Chicago that exactly matches the criteria in the description) generally turns on the water (the part required to meet the "interactive" criterion) on May 1, as long as weather permits. There was warm weather in the Midwest this weekend, so I'm pretty much certain is was turned on. I'll still wait to resolve this either until I get definitive proof that it was on, or until the market closes. That way, NO bettors have the opportunity to prove that Crown Fountain wasn't on, on the off-chance that it for some reason never turns on this month.

predicted NO

@CodeandSolder which was not between april and June. Yes it's been done with interaction, but not during the market.

@CodeandSolder As Fedor Beets said, I do still need evidence that this happened while the market was open, and that the faces are at least 20 ft. tall. Do you know how long the ads were supposed to run for?

@JosephNoonan I scrolled through 12h of livestream from Times Square, a lot of huge faces but nothing obviously interactive, if the market was at 10% I'd put in more effort but at 81% not enough profit

predicted YES

@CodeandSolder Don't worry, I can basically guarantee that it will happen at some point before the end of May. In fact, it will happen in a location very close to where the picture in the description shows.

@JosephNoonan yeah, I assumed you have a way of making that happen independently :D

predicted YES

@CodeandSolder Yeah, that's the place. Hence why I specifically mentioned "spitting on people" in the description.

The faces are coming, it's inevitable.

Should be doable with projector screens, if you want to perform some avant-garde art and market manipulation.

please specify the minimum area/diameter of the face for it to be counted as "giant"

@AnnaZimmer I think the smallest face in the image is about 20 ft. tall, so I'll set that as the threshold for minimum face height required, unless anyone has any objections.

Would a large TV screen (such as those in Times Square) with a face and somewhat responding to a crowd resolve Yes?

How do you define response? Would a face that goes away/gets switched to a different ad if there are too many/few people in a crowd count?

bought Ṁ0 of YES

@RobertCousineau Yes, as long as the face on the screen is larger than the minimum height and it really does interact with the crowd in some way. I would define an interaction between the face and passers-by as meaning that either the actions of the passers-by affect what the face does in some way (e.g., the face is programmed to look at random people), or the face can do something that affects passers-by in a more substantial way than just "they see the face and have whatever psychological response that causes".
