I have "middle insomnia" that triggers around 43% of nights recently. In the past it was much lower. Will trazodone drop this value below 21% of nights over 60 nights of taking in, within the next year (by 2024 Sep 19)?
The nights must be the last 60 nights that I took trazodone at some point in time. I will likely randomize some nights to no-trazodone so this may span a longer period of e.g. 70 to 120 days.
Currently 25 and 50mg have failed to make a noticeable impact. The doctor says to try higher doses and that there's a 90% chance some dose will work. I doubt it's this high, or maybe he meant "a high enough dose will work but you wouldn't be willing to accept the side effects".
The doctor will likely switch to a different medicine if it fails to work at higher doses within a few months.

The sedating effects of trazodone cap out at about 50 mg or so, as this is sufficient for H1 receptor occupancy, largely responsible for sedation (also 5HT2 and alpha1). Larger doses >100 mg are mainly used to allow trazodone to have clinically significant SERT inhibition, which is useful for antidepressant effect. It's possible that treating depression could improve your sleep, but we do not have enough information to know. This is not medical advice, I suggest talking to your doctor.
