I don't really "feel" about numbers, but the font size does make a difference. The zeroes are much wider, so it was plausible that the first number actually had more digits. But it didn't.

makes a big difference that the two numbers are one on top of the other. If you asked which of 998999889899898 and 1000000000000000 feel bigger, it's a coin toss, for me, but one on top of the other makes all the difference!
