Proposition D is a ballot measure on the San Francisco November 2024 ballot. This market will resolve to YES if Proposition D comes into effect. Namely, it must get majority vote and it must get more YES votes than Proposition E. This measure that would do a few things:

  1. It would reduce the number of city boards, commissions and task forces from 130 to 65 within 16 months.

  2. It allows the Mayor to appoint people to commissions without Board of Supervisors review, and allows the Board of Supervisors to appoint without Mayoral review.

  3. It gives the Mayor the authority to appoint or dismiss Department heads.

  4. It gives the Police Chief the sole authority to set officer conduct policy.

  5. It would make more commissions advisory, transferring policy to Department heads and appeals to hearing officers.
