The Minnesota state emblems and redesign commission plans to adopt a new design for the official state flag and the official state seal no later than January 1, 2024. Will the adopted flag contain any seal (as in, an emblem, as is common on other US state flags not the animal) or the name of the state itself? Both of these choices would be regarded as bad choices by most vexillologists.
Regardless, it will be hard to do worse than their current flag.

@JimHays This flag or a slight variation on it appears to be the overwhelming favorite. That said I will not resolve this market until the commission meets on January 1st. If at that point a flag meeting the criteria in the title is still set to become official (which wouldn't happen until May 2024) I will immediately resolve as NO.
@LukeW I’m not sure they do meet on the first? The commission met today and selected this flag, which seemed pretty final, and they have until the first at the latest to submit their report. But it seems fair to wait at least until they submit the report if you want to be extra sure
“On December 19, 2023, The State Emblems Redesign Commission adopted the image below as the final design for the next state flag.”
@JimHays I believe this is indeed the final design - Wikipedia currently lists it as the final design that will become the flag in May. However, this is the case "unless the legislature decides to take further action," so I'm not entirely sure!
@Marnix in the last 12 hours more news outlets (including NYT, CBS,USA Today) have picked up stories on the "finalized" design. That helps me feel more solid that this is indeed the choice. Resolving.
