M-Disc is a brand of long-lasting DVD and Blu-ray discs intended for data archival.

As of the writing of this question, a 25 GB disc costs about 7 USD on Amazon. Its manufacturer claims that a well-stored disc will preserve data for 1000 years. A 2022 NIST report (page 12) lists M-Disc as an acceptable archive format for 100+ years. This was informed by accelerated aging tests between 2009 and 2012 which independently followed the manufacturer's specified test parameters for DVDs.

The original manufacturer went bankrupt in 2016. Brand partner Verbatim changed the product formulation in 2022, receiving customer criticism. This question refers to M-Disc branded discs made using the 2016-style process or earlier.

Resolves YES if a collection of 5+ discs is still readable 100 years from manufacture.

Resolves NO as soon as a collection of 5+ discs shows significant data loss under verifiably acceptable storage conditions (such as in the archives of the US State of Utah).
