Resolution criteria

This market resolves to YES if Kingdom Hearts 4 (also known as Kingdom Hearts IV) is officially released to the general public on any major gaming platform (e.g., PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PC, or Nintendo Switch 2) on or before December 31, 2027.

This market resolves to NO if the game is not released by December 31, 2027, including if it is delayed to 2028 or later, canceled, or remains unreleased.

Early access, demos, public beta tests, or spin-off games do not count toward a YES resolution; the full, retail version of the mainline game must be released.

Source of Truth: The primary source of truth for resolution will be official press releases or product pages from Square Enix or reporting from major video game journalism outlets like IGN or GameSpot.

Background

First announced in April 2022 for the franchise's 20th anniversary, Kingdom Hearts 4 is set to begin the "Lost Master Arc". At the Disney D23 Entertainment Showcase in August 2026, Square Enix officially confirmed a "late 2027" release window for the game, alongside the reveal of a world based on Pixar's Coco.

Despite the official window, Square Enix has a history of long development cycles and high-profile delays (such as Kingdom Hearts III, which was delayed multiple times before releasing in 2019). This market tracks whether the developer will hit its targeted 2027 release year or face further delays.
