Other/The Field

Must finish in the points in the actual race (not a sprint race). The race will take place on May 26, 2024.

Ten answers will be resolved YES, unless multiple "Other/The Field" drivers finish in the top ten, or fewer than ten drivers score points.

Markets are resolved according to the following criteria: https://gist.github.com/kevinburke/190b4c7fedfae12bc8e115519f4a9541

The cost to create these markets increased by 10x. It costs about 30000 mana to create all of the markets for a given weekend. I can't afford that anymore.

@KevinBurke (copying from other thread) When you cancel a market, do you get the market creation fees back?

@Gen Is it allowed for us to create markets, gain the desired info from the odds once it settles, then cancel them to get the refund, as long as we advertise as such in the market title?

@TheAllMemeingEye like this Yud market but over a much shorter time range

@KevinBurke Makes sense. The pricing changes seen likely to kill all these markets that are just there for fun. They really need to pump up the rewards to fix this.

@TheAllMemeingEye I'm not really sure what you mean, Yud's market was setup like that because there is no incentive to bet on humanity being wiped out if you won't be there to collect. Afaik we would not support markets like this. You should not rely on N/A, but you can use it to cancel a market very shortly after creation if you have made an error and need to cancel.

New incentives encourage fewer, higher volume markets. The feedback is great, we will see how things play out and for now I'm going to make a f1 market and see how the costs play out

@Gen I think this is what was meant: I could create a market "What price will Apple stock close at on 5/30?". People place their predictions; I buy/sell the stock and then close the market as N/A and get Mana back

@Enlil Realistically there is no incentive for anyone to trade on those markets, and no reason for us to support them afaict

Fees paid to manifold are deducted from any refunds granted during the N/A cancellation process, fees paid to the creator are returned.

@Gen Here is my F1 market for this weekend, I've subsidized it so the subsidy is M10k total, and I hope to learn a bit more about running these exact types of markets

@KevinBurke I'm quite convinced you won't make the mana cost back in trading fees. You'd have to make these markets at a loss.
Genzy, what are you trying to learn? I'm interested.
But you not making these markets does mean I will add some more options to my market: https://manifold.markets/Fedor/what-will-be-true-of-the-monaco-gp
