The Kinsey scale is a way of rating someone's sexuality on a spectrum from 0 (completely heterosexual) to 6 (completely homosexual). It can basically be thought of as representing the ratio between a person's degree of same sex and opposite sex attraction or sexual contact. Because it's only a 1-dimesnional scale, it can't be applied to all sexualities (e.g., asexuality doesn't fit on the scale and is typically given a rating of "X").
The sexuality question on my survey includes seven options that roughly correspond to the rankings on the Kinsey scale: "Exclusively heterosexual," "Heterosexual, with a few exceptions," "Mostly but not exclusively heterosexual," "Bisexual or pansexual," "Mostly but not exclusively homosexual," "Homosexual with a few exceptions," and "Exclusively homosexual." Based on the responses given for these options, what will be the average rating on the Kinsey scale, rounded to the nearest integer?
