Resolution Criteria
This market resolves YES if United Flight 1435 from Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) to Orlando International Airport (MCO) scheduled for December 28, 2025 is cancelled. Resolution will be determined by checking the flight status on FlightAware or the airline's official website. If the flight is rescheduled to a different date, it resolves YES. If the flight operates on December 28 (regardless of delays), it resolves NO.
Background
A major snowstorm forecast to hit the northeast on Friday caused more than 1,000 flight cancellations and 3,600 delays, with more than 700 flights cancelled in New York alone, with Newark Liberty International among the hardest hit. However, this storm was expected to clear by Saturday. December 28 is two days after the initial winter weather event. Orlando's forecast for December 28 shows mostly sunny conditions with highs near 79°F, so weather disruptions are unlikely at the destination.
Considerations
The primary risk factor for cancellation would be residual impacts from the Northeast winter storm system, such as aircraft positioning issues or crew availability. However, with two days between the storm and the scheduled flight, most operational disruptions should be resolved.
