@Gen i want to thank you for managing this market and others in a very timely manner. My net worth grew by 2.6x off of Santa Paws markets and being confident that they would resolve quickly, so I could bet big without worrying about having my mana locked up.
@TobyBW No worries! This definitely proved a better way to run the markets
If you have any other feedback, let me know.
Two suggestions I'm passing on to the team:
"bet" button could be replaced by "yes"/"no" buttons so it's more obvious for new users
Some way to get rid of resolved answers, or toggle them to hide after x amount of time.. or whatever
it is really ugly when you click "show more" and your whole page gets filled
@Gen I believe the multiple choice markets may have originally had Yes and No buttons. Not sure when/why it changed. There should be at least one sort that shows recently resolved first among the resolved. Either first overall or after all the active ones would be good.
Since returning to Manifold, I've been trying to not take on much risk, as earlier in the year, I lost a lot (though not to unwise risk; it was a confluence of unfortunate off-site circumstances). I've been finding it harder to profit in low-risk markets (mostly due to @Yuna). I wonder how often I will be able to have an opportunity like the Santa Paws markets, with the option to go for low-risk high-reward bets. I haven't been too successful at that in the few days since, but I also haven't been looking very hard.
@Gen I think it's better now.. It was never meant to be who will win the entire thing but I wasn't sure if there would be a reset/whatever so I was going to change it - I'm new to smash, I'll follow your advice!
Let me know if you want any other changes or markets added
To bet on the final winner:
@TobyBW I can't/won't share that at this stage, but at the end of the day, it is a charity event so I'm glad it benefits a good cause. As for results, there are far less people betting than expected, but this is a new thing we're trying and I've got a lot of useful info from it.
For the people in twitch chat asking for mods to make predictions right as the casters tell them to sign up to bet on manifold, I don't know if we will ever be able to convince them to try it
Some people have signed up and bet once or not at all, then donated, which is also great! (link)
For people who have signed up and joined the betting throughout, it's great to have you! All feedback is very welcome
@Gen I will say the platform has a bit of a learning curve which is just harder to manage than twitch preds. But would be more fun if the betting closed earlier than after the match ended lol
@Gen like I can still bet on a player to win sometimes until after the match has already finished. Also idk if you could get a twitch built in app like how YT mimics twitch preds for built in accessibility.
@KevinZambrano Yeah, that makes sense.
You can bet after the match has finished, but it doesn't hurt anyone - when you bet at the end you're only taking mana from the automated MM (the house) or from people with limit orders open.
When you place your bet your odds are fixed and you lock-in your payout, so it doesn't matter if someone raids the pool afterwards by betting the market to 100% or 0%.
On the individual markets I can close the betting before picking the winner, but in this format I can only close it if I close all the open trading, so I have to wait until I know the winner so I can resolve it YES/NO
btw - Do you prefer this format (all bets on one market page)? Or the previous one?
There is a twitch bot that lets you bet using twitch chat, but it is a bit clunky and doesn't work very well unless the market is visible on screen so people can see the % etc.
@Gen Definitely all on 1 page. I did not like hunting for the current preds yesterday lol. That actually makes sense I'm cool w it in that case.
@Gen also what is the format used to make this style of question? I would like to make my own but i dont understand the poll, multiple choice etc
@KevinZambrano This is a multiple choice market with independent options. That means that each "answer" is treated as it's own Yes/No market, just grouped together on one page for ease of use.
