The World’s First Kalanchoe porphyrocalyx x blossfeldiana?
I am hosting a market on the first-ever bloom of this unique hybrid seedling.
The Pedigree:
Mother: Kalanchoe porphyrocalyx (Known for pendant, bell-shaped purple/pink flowers).
Father (Likely): Kalanchoe blossfeldiana (Known for upright, flat-petaled clusters in vivid colors).
The Evidence: Based on the leaf morphology (see attached photo), the hybrid vigor is apparent. The leaves show a blend of the father's thickness and the mother's distinct scalloping.
The Bet: How will the flower manifest? Will it inherit the pendant "bell" shape of the mother or the upright "star" shape of the father?
Resolution Criteria: I will resolve this market based on a high-resolution photo of the fully opened bloom.
Porphyrocalyx-leaning: Flowers hang downward (pendant).
Blossfeldiana-leaning: Flowers face upward or outward (upright).
Intermediate: A distinct 45-degree angle or a shape that equally blends both.
Entirely different: none of the above
Closing Date: Betting closes in 14 days—well before the petals unfurl. Place your bets now before the shape shows!
