Resolution criteria

The market resolves YES if the progressive metal band Opeth releases a new studio album in 2026. Resolution will be verified through official release dates and an actual release.

The album must be a full-length studio release, not a live album, compilation, or EP. A solo artist release will not count.

Background

Opeth's most recent studio album, "The Last Will and Testament," is their fourteenth studio album, released on November 22, 2024. This came five years after their previous album, 2019's "In Cauda Venenum". The band has announced a North American tour beginning in February 2026, which will promote their current album rather than a new release.

Considerations

Given the band's release pattern—five years between their last two albums—and the fact that they just released a major concept album in late 2024, a new studio album in 2026 would represent an unusually rapid turnaround for Opeth.
