Luton town have already delayed their first home game against Burnley due to ongoing works to bring the Kenilworth Road ground up to the broadcast and facilities.
A quote from Luton Chief Executive Gary Sweet stated;
“The joint decision to delay this fixture is regrettable, especially given the amazing progress that continues to be made on our construction works; our current programme is indeed on time, but there is no additional contingency and therefore we can’t give a cast-iron guarantee at this stage that a problem outside of our control, however minor, wouldn’t force a postponement further down the line and inconvenience supporters of both clubs.” [1]
Per the BBC, if works are not completed on time it is possible that Luton may play several awau fixtures in a row to allow for more time to complete construction, which would push it past the 23rd [2]
