Our union contract expires at midnight tonight (Thursday, June 12, 2025, meaning a strike would start the 13th).

95 percent of unit members signed a strike pledge, though that is not a guarantee of a strike. As of 4:20pm on Thursday, a deal has not been reached and members are voting on a formal strike authorization.

Major issues of contention include pay, treatment of The Dodo (a Vox vertical with its own unit which wants to merge with the Vox Media Union), and possible use of AI to displace unit members.

My own estimate is there's a 50-50 chance, as of 4:20pm. But perhaps others with knowledge will bet.
