I finally have a guess on how the limit orders work, but can somebody fill that one: ChameLeon created limit order for Ṁ10 YES at 2% (and if I don't know, teach me?) : D
when I know what it does, I'll make more @ 2%
apparently @SophusCorry did. Maybe you know?
@ChameLeon Basically Im ready to sell @2%, so I should put a limit order YES on 2%, right?
@ChameLeon why would you sell at 2%? We already know this resolves NO
But yes I believe if you put a limit order of 10 mana on yes at 2%, then when it hits 2% it will automatically buy 10 yes stores, and it is "filled". It's basically free mana for me because then the probability doesn't go down and I can buy more NO
@ChameLeon I don't want to sell @3%, but @2% Im confident enough, I can put the mana in better use. Since I'm afraid this market isn't going to resolve in the next few hours.
@ChameLeon Ah I see what you mean, but it's better to let the market resolve, then you will get more mana than if you just sell it in the last moment. And it will probably only be a few hours.
@ChameLeon bro I'm not sure but I think you're getting things confused, you lose mana by constantly buying and selling like thid
@ChameLeon there might even be a mechanism I don't know of. Would surprise me a bit though
@ChameLeon I'm no expert but right now when it resolves NO, I get 2045 mana back for a cool 45 mana profit. But if I sell, I only get 2002. If I sell this, then buy back 2000, then sell again, then buy, I will keep having less and less mana I believe
@SophusCorry The last part maybe doesn't make sense. I guess, on Manifold that can happen because of bots: Like @acc
@SophusCorry not claiming I know it 100%, but this is what I have experienced. The first part I totally agree. However in this particular scenario, that loss would have been fine, since I was ready to sell X amount on certain above 0%s
@ChameLeon I see what you mean. There is also the loans feature for not having to sell all your long term investments
@SophusCorry Yeah, that one has been great. However the end of season markets seem quite misevaluated. Bunch of mana to be gamed :D
@ChameLeon Ok well I found the limit order section of the FAQ but I think there's really no new information here https://docs.manifold.markets/faq#what-is-a-limit-order
