Question closes one day prior, and will be resolved on the 15th.
Resolution criteria
This market will resolve to "Yes" if credible reports confirm that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is physically present in Istanbul, Turkey, on Thursday, May 15, 2025. Acceptable sources include reputable news outlets and official government statements. If no such confirmation is available by May 16, 2025, the market will resolve to "No."
Background
As of May 12, 2025, there are reports indicating that President Zelenskyy has agreed to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin in Istanbul on May 15, 2025, to discuss potential peace negotiations. This meeting is contingent upon Russia agreeing to a 30-day unconditional ceasefire, a condition that Russia has not yet accepted. Additionally, the Kremlin has not confirmed President Putin's attendance at the proposed meeting. (elpais.com)
Considerations
Given the lack of confirmation from both parties and the conditional nature of the meeting, there is uncertainty regarding President Zelenskyy's presence in Istanbul on the specified date. Traders should monitor official announcements and news reports leading up to May 15, 2025, for updates on the situation.
Zelenskyy announced he will be in Ankara waiting, but ready to fly to Istanbul from there with Erdogan, therefore Zelenskyy is not currently planning to be in Istanbul unless a Russian representative goes there.
Even if Putin does show up, he might go to Ankara, or even throw another wrench out and go someplace else. Even if Russia does send a representative to Istanbul, it might not be Putin, in which case Zelenskyy might not go.
