Valve publishes a survey on the hardware that is used to play games on Steam.

The most popular GPU on Steam is currently the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060.

At the end of the year, will the GTX 1060 still top the GPU popularity survey?

Arbiter: Steam Hardware Survey December 2022.

@BramStolk now that this is closed and the report is out can this resolve?

@BramStolk The report is out. The GTX 1060 remains dethroned. This can safely resolve NO.

Since the survey is out we can resolve?

Why the confident bets? It looks to me like there's a fair amount of random up and down movement in the statistics.

@StevenK mostly while the dip in the 1060 does seem a bit extreme for the surrounding sequence, folks tend not to downgrade and the November report is a reasonably strong datapoint in favor, and there's a shortage of opportunities in this risk budget range. is 6% too low? maybe. but 25% was way too high.

@EdwardKmett The 1650 is in the $150 range. It's super popular right now with budget home pc builders currently, because its the first thing since the 1060 to hit an affordable price point. It's 3 years newer than the 1060 which is having supply chain problems because it has been discontinued, so the 1060 market share can only really go up by steam users coming back who already have them or by folks buying them off defunct crypto miners. Basically all the folks who 6 months ago would buy a used 1060 can't find them right now, and are accepting the other card, at least from what I can see of the secondhand market.

@EdwardKmett I suspect if this market resolves YES that a similar market targeted at next month or the month after would resolve NO, so this is more a function of whether this is the right timing and if last month was an outlier for some reason.

@Isaac228c The arbiter, as stated, is the December survey, not the November one.
