NO

This year, it has grown from almost nothing to 15 million DAUs.[1] It tripled in DAUs from July to August.[2]

This market resolves as positive if the best source I can find on January 1 (likely AppTopia) indicates BeReal having at least 30 million DAUs.

They announced in April that they have 20 million DAUs. I can't find a better source but would be surprised if it was above 30 million on January 1, so resolving this negatively.

It's crazy how much BeReal has infiltrated my friend group:

Clearly Manifold should jump onto this trend, by making everyone place a prediction once-a-day on a daily market!

Featuring this market because I'm curious to hear what other people's experience of BeReal has been (what kind of people use it? have they enjoyed their experiences?)

I like how the design of the app is self-limiting (similar to Wordle), to counteract the infinite black hole effect of typical social media apps. It's possible Manifold would actually be better if you only had a certain window to execute trades each day; Matt Levine often speculates about whether Wall Street would be better the stock markets were only open for 15 minutes each day, freeing up traders to do other things with their time.

@Austin We have considered a similar thing for the EA forum. I don't think we are actually going to do it, but it would be interesting if there was only 1 hour per day that you could write or something.

@BenWest Oh, cool to know! FWIW, the EA Forum is actually one of the sites I semi-block, with a 15s delay before the page loads using the Delayed Gratification extension. Which is both cause for praise (for maintaining such an awesome site!) and some plausible addiction worries, haha.

I've always admired the Hacker News ethos of having an on-site feature that lets you configure how often they should block the site for you to keep you productive. Maybe at our next Manifold hackathon...
